If you remember all the ways to cook shrimp presented by Bubba Gum in the movie "Forest Gump"? Well, at RiverBottom Lures, we like to say there are more ways to fish Getsems than there are to cook shrimp. You are limited only by your imagination. Following are some of the lure modification techniques and rigging techniques used by fishermen around the country:
Cut Down Getsem:
Cut and remove section of main body between head skirt and lower skirt. The head section and tail section stubs can be quickly welded back together creating a shorter lower profile lure. To accomplish this, use soft plastic glue or light one of the stubs and hold it upright so that it will burn evenly across surface of stub. Let burn about 5 seconds, then blow out flame and push the cold stub up against hot stub holding them together 10-15 seconds. The cut down lure is now ready to fish. By using this technique you are able to customize either the 4 ½" or large 6" Getsem to perfectly fit and jig head or hook. The modified Getsem fit to a jig head offers the lower profile more compact nature of a jig and additionally has the big fish attractor in the thumping action of the paddle tail resulting in more attraction for a Big Bass. Converting the tail on this jig presentation to a swimming tail (illustrated below) creates a very realistic swimming action you need to see to appreciate. We plan to offer this lure combination prepackaged in about 8-12 colors beginning in 2005 and have named it Getsems "Double Trouble".
Convert Vibra Tail to Swimming Tail:
Lay vibra tail on hard flat surface and using razorblade or knife, cut as shown, creating a beautiful very natural swimming action.
Convert Paddle Tail To a Buzz Tail:
Using a paper hole punch, punch the BL out of the RBL insignia located in center of vibra tail. Open tail by cutting from hole back toward tail stem as shown. Converts the thumping action of the paddle tail to a fluttering action. Produces more action on a slower retrieve or fall rate.
Convert Vibra Tail To Fish Tail:
Lay vibra tail on hard surface and using a razorblade or sharp knife, cut as shown.
Holy Getsem:
Using a paper hole punch, create holes along the main body of the Getsem between the head skirt and lower skirt. This allows for a much easier hook set and traps air creating bubbles. The oval button rattle fits these holes created by the hole punch for additional attractor.
Getsem Rattle Eyes:
Insert the red Gator Eyz worm rattles at head of lure to create eyes that rattle. Looks and sounds great. The Gator Eyz worm rattlers can be purchased from Allen Lures, Inc. Phone: 904-328-8808.
Custom Coloration:
Using Dip-n-Dye, create custom coloration.
